World Food Day Activities

On 16th October every year World Food Day is celebrated commemorating the foundation of Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations in 1945. Every year the day is celebrated with a theme in mind. This year’s theme was “Our Actions are Our Future. Healthy Diets for a #ZeroHunger World.

Huzurala’sTUS Irshadaat Nooraniyah have always guided mumineen to being an exemplary citizen as well as helping our fellow human beings. This event is an opportunity for the community to adhere to Irshadaat of HuzuralaTUS and helping our less fortunate fellow human beings . Worldwide FMB, Niyaaz, Dana Committee and other organizations got together to participate in the event in the week leading to the event and after the event. Following are the few highlights from the activities conducted all around the world.

Al-Mahalat Al-Burhaniyah (Karachi): Dana Committee and MSB students along with organization Robin Hood Army delivered raw food items to 2 homes for elderly.

Chennai: Collection of non-perishable food items by MSB Students and alumni. Food was then distributed to 3 orphanages and elderly homes. A poster competition was also to create awareness regarding food wastage. A total of 2285 kgs of food was collected which would help 50 elders and 280 orphans.

Essa Mohallah (Karachi): 53 food packets delivered to SIUT hospital in Karachi.

Nagpur: Around 786 packets of food distributed in government hospitals.

Udaipur: Dana Committee served food to people in Dharamshala.

Mohammedi Mohallah (Madras): 175 handcart pullers and load lifters were served food. Also 353 hampers were distributed in government schools to help children.

Patna: Food packets distributed in slum and flood affected areas.

Sitamau: A rally was conducted to create awareness for world food day.

Nairobi: A walk was held for World Food Day Awareness.

Mississauga: 500 turkeys were donated to less fortunate keeping in mind upcoming holiday of Thanksgiving.

Indore: Hampers in large quantity delivered to orphanages, old age homes and slums. Around 1000 kg flour and wheat, 500 kg rice, 250 kg dal and 275 liter oil with many other items such as salt, sugar and masala etc. distributed as well.

Burhani Mohallah (Karachi): Ibadullah served dal gosht in lunch as well as 60 packets of rations to be sent to homes.

Bahrain: 600 packets of Biryani distributed amongst laborers.

Aljamea tus Saifiyah (Karachi): A small maraz conducted on world food day.

Many other mawaze such as Banswara, Sironj, Rawalpindi, Suwasra, Dholka, Bhayender (West), Bhopal and many more also participated in the worldwide initiative.
